Catch up with 'shark man' Clinton Duffy and our marine team, learn about endangered Waiohine bats and how you can get involved in plant conservation with John Sawyer. Bookings are essential. Tea and coffee is provided.

where Waewaepa Scenic Reserve, Makairo Road (western side), approximately 20–30 minutes from Mangatinoka, Northern Wairarapa
more Experience one of Wairarapa's most isolated reserves by mountain bike. This trip is supported by Pahiatua locals and DOC staff. Pick up a map from Mobil petrol station, bike and auto workshop in Pahiatua. Look for DOC flags and meet local guides at the Grant's woolshed, Makairo Road – the western side (about 500 m from entrance to reserve) at 2.00pm for ride. Parking is available here. Grade 2 trail, 10 km one-way. Your own bike and some experience is required.

more DOC and Aratoi – Wairarapa Museum of Art & History are running a photo competition.
The theme is ‘snap happy in nature’. Photos will be on display at the museum during Conservation Week.
